Welcome on the website of the Program Coordinating Unit (PCU) of the Public Sector Management Strengthening Program (PSMSP) The PSMSP is a program that has arisen out of the agreement between the Surinamese government and the Inter- American Development Bank (IDB), and is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This program will bring forth reform in the current situation in the government; the transparency, efficiency, effectiveness and responsibility of the public sector in Suriname will all approve. As you can see this reform will bring a number of benefits for both government and community and to make sure this program runs smoothly, the Program Coordinating Unit has been established. In the beginning the PCU was mainly busy with filling in the necessary edge conditions (organization, personnel, housing, etc.) the putting out to tender of the tasks, the planning and preparation of the implementation and… ownership of the Government. After companies have been contracted for several services (Civil Service Reform, Procurement, Connectivity Backbone E- Readiness, and Civil Registry) the effective implementation of the several components can start in course of 2008. Through this website we, of the PCU, will try to keep you informed about the status and the last developments of the reform. You can also be helpfull by giving us feedback on any issue regarding the public sector, the execution of the program or one of the components, but also about this website. Send us an email or post your contribution at the forum.
